Process Mining Software From Infor: Find Bottlenecks

What Process Mining Actually Does

Most process documentation describes how work is supposed to flow, built from interviews, whiteboard sessions, and best guesses about what happens between a request coming in and a task getting done. Process mining software works differently. It analyzes the event logs your systems already generate, the timestamps, user actions, and status changes recorded every time someone creates an order, approves an invoice, or updates a record, and reconstructs what actually happened rather than what was supposed to happen. That gap between the documented process and the real one is usually where the costly delays live. Instead of guessing where a bottleneck sits, process mining software shows you the exact step, the exact team, and the exact frequency.

How Infor Process Mining Works Inside CloudSuite

Infor Process Mining is embedded directly inside Infor CloudSuite, which means it works from data the system is already generating rather than requiring a separate integration project. It applies process intelligence software techniques to map real workflows, flag deviations from the standard model, and surface root causes rather than just symptoms. GenAI capabilities layered on top let users ask plain-language questions and get instant summaries, so the output doesn’t require a data analyst to interpret. This is a meaningfully different tool than Infor GenAI, which focuses on assisting with day-to-day tasks. Process mining answers an earlier question: where exactly is the process breaking down in the first place.

Turning Event Logs Into a Real Process Map

Every transaction inside Infor CloudSuite, an order created, an approval granted, an invoice matched, leaves a timestamped record behind. Process mining software collects those records and reconstructs a visual map of the actual process, including every variation, workaround, and detour that never made it into the official documentation. This is closer to task mining software in spirit: it looks at what people and systems actually did, step by step, rather than relying on a flowchart someone drew years ago. Because the map is built from real data rather than assumptions, it surfaces things that would otherwise stay invisible, like an approval step that gets skipped a third of the time or a handoff that consistently adds two extra days.

A Different Layer From the AI Agents

SSI has covered how Infor’s AI Agents automate specific tasks once you know what needs automating. Process mining does the work that comes before that: it identifies which processes are actually worth automating in the first place, based on where the real friction sits rather than where someone assumes it sits. Skipping this step is a common reason ERP automation projects underdeliver, teams end up automating a process that was never the real bottleneck. Process mining gives you the evidence to prioritize correctly before committing engineering time to the wrong fix. That evidence-first approach is what separates a process improvement effort that actually moves the needle from one that just reshuffles the same inefficiencies into a new tool.

SSI can help you connect Infor Process Mining to the specific operational bottlenecks slowing your team down.

See What Your Data Is Telling You

What Process Mining Reveals That You Can’t See Otherwise

The value of process mining software isn’t the visualization itself, it’s what the visualization exposes that manual review would almost certainly miss. Because Infor Process Mining works from data your CloudSuite environment already generates, getting started doesn’t require a separate AI ERP software purchase or a lengthy new integration project, most organizations see initial insights within days. Once event log data is mapped, a handful of specific insights tend to surface quickly, often within the first few days of analysis. These aren’t hypothetical benefits, they’re the categories of findings that show up consistently across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and inventory workflows. Here’s what typically comes to light:

Process variants that never match the documented standard, and how often each one occurs
Missing steps, like skipped approvals or inspections, that create compliance risk
The exact point in a workflow where delays consistently accumulate
How actual cycle times compare against internal targets or industry benchmarks
Which manual steps are the strongest automation candidates based on real frequency and cost

A Real Example: State Electric Supply

State Electric Supply, one of the largest electrical distributors in the country, used Infor Process Mining to look at how long it actually took to identify critical process issues inside its operations. According to Randy Yoho, the company’s IT Manager, the team had been waiting weeks to catch problems that process mining now surfaces in a day or two, a reduction of 86%. That faster detection didn’t stay isolated to IT: it translated directly into customers receiving shipments faster, dropping from five days to two, and customer payments arriving faster as well, cutting from seven days to three. None of that came from a new automation project or a headcount increase, it came from finally being able to see where the operational bottlenecks actually were. That’s the practical case for process mining software: it turns a vague sense that something is slow into a specific, addressable problem.

Bring Process Mining Into Your Infor CloudSuite Environment With SSI

Process mining software only delivers value if someone knows how to configure it against your specific processes and interpret what it surfaces. SSI has spent decades implementing Infor CloudSuite for finance and accounting teams and operations leaders across the Americas, and that experience extends directly to activating Infor Process Mining inside an existing environment. Infor’s usage-based licensing model means organizations can start with a single high-impact process, order-to-cash or procure-to-pay are common starting points, rather than committing to an enterprise-wide rollout before seeing results. Rather than guessing which processes need attention, organizations that bring in the right implementation partner start with evidence and prioritize from there. If your team has a sense that something in your operations is slower than it should be but can’t point to exactly where, process mining is how you find out. Talk to SSI about bringing process mining into your Infor CloudSuite environment.
